GOUT ARTHRITIS

An attack that is usually extremely painful of joint inflammation due to deposits of uric acid crystals in the joint fluid (synovial fluid) and joint lining (synovial lining). Intense joint inflammation occurs as white blood cells engulf the uric acid crystals, causing pain, heat, and redness of the joint tissues.

Normally, uric acid is dissolved in the blood and passes through the kidneys into the urine. But, when more uric acid is produced than the kidneys can eliminate, the elevated level is known as hyperuricemia.

After years of sustained hyperuricemia, the body may store excess uric acid up to several times higher than the normal level. The uric acid may crystallize in joints and some other tissues. When the crystals accumulate in the joints they can set the stage for a painful attack of gout. Destroys our joints and bones makes us immovable. When a person is experiencing a gout attack, the area is going to be red, swollen, and hot to the touch. The joints affected will become very stiff and there will be a high level of pain. If the joints affected are the toes or the feet, then it will be very difficult to walk and even to get your shoes on.

The higher intake of foods rich in purines (e.g., liver, kidney, sardines) contributes to hyperuricemia or gout, or a strict diet low-purine, lowering urate levels in plasma of about 60 mmol / L (1 mg / dL).

Urati precipitate as needle-shaped crystals of monosodium urate, which can accumulate in the extracellular tissue without vessels (eg, cartilage), in poorly vascularized tissue (eg. Tendons, tendon sheath, ligaments, the stock market) and around the cooler, the distal joints and tissues (eg. Ear ). In the long-term, severe hyperuricemia, urate crystals invest in larger central joints in parenchymal organs, for example, the kidneys. The acidic pH of urine urate easily toppling the form of small plate or irregular crystals who have a way to aggregate to form sand or stones with the risk of obstruction. Tofi are monosodium urate crystal deposits that occur mainly in and around the joints and in the skin.

What disease is higher and it lasts longer, the greater the likelihood and severity of symptoms. Urate levels may be elevated due to reduced excretion, increased production or increased intake of purine. It is not clear why only some people hiperuricemične suffer from gout.
